UNITED NEURODIVERSITY
United Neurodiversity
Neurodivergence is the concept that neurological differences should be accepted and appreciated. We exist to help alleviate the stigma against those with special needs and increase understanding of neurodivergence.

Our Mission

United Neurodiversity is a student organization which strives to understand and empathize with those who are neurodivergent. By using resources to educate one another and sharing our own stories, we hope to increase understanding of neurodiversity.

“Wait! Slow down, I don’t know what any of these terms mean!"

Neurodiversity is the concept of recognizing individual neurological differences and acknowledging the diversity among human minds; the concept suggests that those with such differences are not suffering from a deficit due to their mental processes, which allows those with variations in mental functioning to not only be seen as their weaknesses, but appreciated for their strengths. We'll break it down for you. We've compiled a list of some short definitions that will help you understand our mission.

Neurodivergent is defined as having a brain that functions and processes in ways that diverge from the societal standard of a “normal” brain. Neurodivergent is an umbrella term which can describe many neurological differences, such as autism, ADHD, OCD, and more. Neurotypical describes individuals who possess no significant neurological differences, allowing their brain function to be described as “normal.” Neurotypical is the opposite of neurodivergent.
